On arrival at Bhubaneswar, check in to your hotel and relax for a while before starting a half-day city tour. Begin with Lingaraj Temple, one of the oldest and largest temples in Odisha, dedicated to Lord Shiva and representing classic Kalinga architecture. Visit Mukteswar Temple, known as the “Gem of Odisha architecture,” famous for its beautifully carved torana (arched gateway) and intricate stone sculptures. Continue to Rajarani Temple, built of red and yellow sandstone, admired for its elegant carvings and peaceful ambiance. In the evening, explore Ekamra Haat, a local craft village where you can enjoy Odia handicrafts, handlooms, and traditional street food.
After breakfast, drive to Konark to visit the world-famous Konark Sun Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage Site built in the shape of a giant stone chariot dedicated to the Sun God, known for its massive wheels and detailed carvings. Later, proceed to Puri and stop at Chandrabhaga Beach, a serene beach ideal for photography and relaxation near the temple complex. On arrival in Puri, visit the sacred Jagannath Temple, one of the four holy Char Dham pilgrimage sites in India, dedicated to Lord Jagannath (a form of Lord Krishna). In the evening, relax at Puri Beach, a popular beach on the Bay of Bengal, perfect for sunset views and enjoying local snacks
After breakfast, proceed for an excursion to Chilika Lake, Asia’s largest brackish water lagoon and a paradise for nature lovers and bird watchers. Enjoy a boat ride to spot migratory birds (seasonal) and playful Irrawaddy dolphins near Satapada. Visit Kalijai Island, a small island temple located in the lake, believed to be very auspicious by local fishermen. Return to Puri by evening and spend free time shopping at local markets for handicrafts, seashell items, and Pattachitra paintings.
After breakfast, drive back to Bhubaneswar. On the way or before departure, visit Udayagiri and Khandagiri Caves, ancient rock-cut caves with Jain sculptures and inscriptions, offering a glimpse into Odisha’s historical past. Finally, proceed to the airport or railway station for your onward journey with beautiful memories of Odisha’s temples, beaches, and natural wonders.
